Editorial Policy

Our editorial standard

The Fragrance File publishes fragrance profiles, educational references, reviews, comparisons and reported guides. We aim to distinguish verifiable product information from subjective scent impressions and to avoid presenting marketing language as fact.

Sources and verification

For factual details such as launch year, concentration, credited perfumer and official note lists, we prefer primary sources such as brand websites and press materials. Where primary information is unavailable, we may consult established retailers, interviews, books or other reputable references. Material changes and corrections are made when better evidence becomes available.

Reviews and testing

A fragrance profile does not automatically mean the perfume has been personally tested. Hands-on testing is identified where applicable. Opinions about longevity, sillage, season or wearability are subjective and may differ by skin, climate, batch and application.

Commercial relationships

Advertising and affiliate relationships may support the site, but they do not guarantee coverage or positive treatment. Sponsored material, if published, should be clearly identified.

User reviews

Community reviews are moderated. Users are responsible for their own opinions, but we may remove spam, harassment, copied material, unsafe content or reviews that do not relate to the fragrance being discussed.

Corrections

Readers and brands may submit corrections through our Contact page. Please include a source where possible so we can verify the change.
