The Fragrance File is an independent fragrance publication and growing perfume reference library. Our aim is to make fragrance easier to research: what a perfume smells like, how its note structure is built, who created it, how releases within a house relate to one another, and what is worth knowing before you sample or buy.
Our directory and dictionary are designed to sit alongside our long-form editorial guides. Database-style facts are separated from opinion wherever possible, while reviews and editor impressions are clearly presented as subjective experience.
How we research fragrance information
We prioritise official brand materials, perfumer or retailer information where appropriate, and reputable published references. Fragrance note lists can vary between markets or over time, so we treat note pyramids as a guide rather than a chemical formula. When we have personally tested a fragrance, the profile can be marked accordingly.
Independence and corrections
Commercial relationships do not determine our editorial conclusions. If you spot an error, an outdated detail or a missing credit, please contact us. We welcome corrections that can be verified.
